I can’t even remember the last time I had a brand-new car, but I do know why I can’t recall it- because it’s never happened! I’m one of those folks that would prefer to let others drive it off the lot new and pick it up from them a few years later after a little of the shine and a lot of the price have faded away. For that matter, many of the best cars I’ve ever owned were a decade old when I bought them. And by “best” I mean, ran the longest with the lowest cost of ownership and maintenance. Although it’s nice to have the latest and greatest of anything, I’m more of a “character” person myself, preferring something that has weathered the test of time. One thing led to the other and it was three years until I could afford the engine repair. While I was glad to have anything at all, it was shock to go back to non-electric windows and seats, rattles, clunks and all the other excitement that can accompany a car that’s “old enough to drink”.
