  1. I am in need of a dependable car to use for my family’s benefit. My current car is old and in increasingly bad shape. I fear the day that it ends up costing more to repair than it’s worth. A new car would be a blessing on so many levels!

  2. On March 31, 2018, my life changed. I’m only 16 so I know it wasn’t a mid-life crisis (hopefully not) but it certainly felt like one. I remember being in Atlanta, Georgia at a volleyball tournament just being excited to hang out with my team and play the sport I have a passion for. Unfortunately for me, this tournament was not a good event in my life. On March 31st around 8-9 pm I tore my meniscus playing volleyball. I’m not talking about a minor tear that takes 6 weeks to heal I’m talking about a complex tear who’s initial estimate was 3 months for recovery. I remember right after it happened not being able to sit in a chair or even use the toilet normally (TMI?). I remember about 2 weeks later when my MRI results came in… I was devastated. My mom called me and told me that I tore my meniscus and I would need surgery in 3 days. I remember after my surgery they told me my recovery would take 3 months. I was upset about it but I tried to be positive about it. Little did I know then that it would actually take over 5 months for me to be cleared for any bit of physical activity. On September 25th I was cleared to play again which made me realize and understand how much I had been through. I went through half of a year of excruciating pain \. I remember having to sit with my leg out in the back seat, getting in the shower with my crutches, using the toilet while holding my left leg straight in the air, getting strange looks from almost everyone I passed, and best of all the help of everyone around me. If I was alone I wouldn’t have gotten through this. My parents, friends, doctors, and coaches played a major role in me getting through this. Although it’s still painful for me to walk and bend my knee I’m just so thankful that it wasnt something worse. However the thing that I’m most upset about is that I don’t have a car or a license. Before my surgery I was a sophomore getting my driving hours hoping to get a license and a car. My surgery halted my ability to drive for 5 months. Even now its hard for me to bend my knee long enough to drive. I wanna be able to have a car and enjoy the freedom that all of my friends enjoy. This year has been a really hard one. I’m just proud of myself for getting through it. Through all of my troubles I pushed back the stress and still got straight A’s. I used my injury to my advantage and motivated myself to do better in school. Having a car is a privilege and I know they’re expensive to maintain. I know I’m not entitled to a car, but I think I really deserve one. After all I’ve been through, I think I deserve the priveledge and pleasure of driving to school. driving to practice, driving to hang out with my friends.
